NEW GALACTIC WINDOWS 3

Ikuisuuden julkaisema New Galactic Windows 3 täydentää ja jatkaa kokeelliseen musiikkiin keskittyvää NGW -kokoelmakasettien sarjaa. Sarjassa on aiemmin ilmestynyt kaksi osaa: NGW 1 (2014) ja NGW 2 (2018). Aiempien osien tavoin NGW 3 sisältää 60 minuuttia uutta ja aiemmin julkaisematonta musiikkia kuudelta eri artistilta/kokoonpanolla. Kokoelmalla erilaiset musiikkityylit ja tunnelmat elävät rinnan ja luovat kokonaisuuden, joka tarjoaa mielenkiintoisen ja monenkirjavan kuuntelukokemuksen.

Minea - Aomame
Luin kappaleen työstämisen aikaan japanilaisen kirjailija Haruki Murakamin romaania 1Q84, jonka päähenkilön mukaan kappale sai nimensä. Kirjan pohjalta syntyi unenkaltainen äänimaisema tulkitsemaan koetun todellisuuden mystiikkaa sekä vaeltavan mielen kätkettyä arvoituksellisuutta.

Lau Nau - Caprellidira
Caprellidira belongs to a series of pieces that Lau Nau has composed and recorded live with the Buchla 200 synthesizer at Elektronmusikstudion in Stockholm. The pieces describe the changes in the Baltic Sea and are inspired by the studies of how the biomass of plankton vary depending on the entering saline pulses from the North Sea, the oxygen levels and the temperature of the water.
 
Koho/Numminen - Ystävänpäivä
Ystävänpäivä -kappale koostettiin Nummisen kotistudiossa helmikuun 2020 puolivälissä. Kahden päivän aikana äänitimme uutta materiaalia jota yhdistimme aiemmin tehtyihin äänityksiin. Palaset tuntuivat löytävän toisensa ja loksahtelevan paikoilleen kuin itsestään. Kappaleesta on kuultavissa kaksi eri versiota; täyspitkä digitaalinen sekä hieman lyhennetty kasettiversio.

S Tanner - Not going to look at any direction tonight
In the song you are swimming at the point where your field of vision is half submerged. The song is made at night with eyes closed for two samplers, a synthesizer and a tape echo.

Negatiiviviiva - nohdus
nohdus on maisema, paikalta siirtyminen ja luopuminen, matka sivuun, ruostuneelle.

Viktor Toikkanen - Scrambled pianos
En olisi koskaan voinut kuvitella säveltäväni musiikkia pianolle, mutta toisin kävi. Minulle tarjoutui mahdollisuus säveltää kappale mekaaniselle MIDI-ohjattavalle Yamaha Disklavier-flyygelille. Samoihin aikoihin olin tutustunut Charlemagne Palestinen sekä Julius Eastmanin musiikkiin, joka mielestäni kuuluu teoksessani.

Kappale on sävelletty tietokoneella koodaamalla. Sama melodia toistuu kahdella flyygelillä toisen soidessa hieman viivästettynä kuten Steve Reichin Piano Phase-kappaleessa. Teokseni edetessä alkaa tietokone sekoittamaan säveliä uuteen järjestykseen, jolloin satunnaisuus astuu peliin.
